While there is a newer generation, given its age, it'll be almost impossible to find for the next few years, so we'll start with one that you will be able to find. This generation hit the market in 2018, and with it came a 2.0L I4 330i that made 255 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. Also coming with a 3.0L I6 M340i that makes 385 horsepower, and 369 lb-ft of torque.
If you want the best speeds, then you'll want the M340i as it can go 0-60 in just 4.1-seconds, while the 330i can do it in 5.3 seconds, as per Car and Driver. While it's not the most important part of a performance model, the 330i is very efficient. Coming with an EPA-rated 30 MPG combined, this model can be used as a daily driver, ensuring that heads will turn both on and off the track.
While the 8.8-inch touchscreen is the standard for any model you're looking at, you may be lucky and find one that has been equipped with the Live Cockpit Pro package. This upgrades the screen to a 10.25-inch one that makes it a bit easier to use. While Apple CarPlay is on this infotainment system, you won't be able to use Android Auto just yet.
For 2021, the model saw an interesting addition, with this being the 330e plug-in-hybrid model. This model saw a step up from previous iterations, coming with a higher top speed at 87 MPH, a larger battery, now sitting at 12.0 kilowatt-hours, and an all-electric range of 22 miles. When looking at the official EPA test, you'll be able to get up to 320 miles of total range, making this a solid option for those who want to be a bit greener.
For 2023, the model saw another update, and this one brought a new, larger infotainment screen. This one now sits at 14.9 inches, dwarfing those from the past, and even comes with built-in navigation. This makes it so that you never need to reach for your phone again just to find your way somewhere.
As mentioned earlier, this change also saw the introduction of Android Auto to the lineup, making it so that no matter which brand you have, you can now connect to your vehicle. Other standard features include 5G Wi-Fi hotspot and SiriusXM satellite radio. If you want more, then you can look for models that may be outfitted with a head-up display, wireless smartphone charging pad, and a Harman/Kardon stereo system.
Over the next few years, the model remained mostly the same, only coming with a few tweaks here and there. This includes an update to the suspension, making the ride a bit more comfortable, but knowing BMW, you'll hardly notice it in real-world applications, as the initial build was already perfect.
