With this generation being in full swing, the model has seen some changes. When it first hit the roads in 2019, it came with a few choices for the engine. First base engine is the 3360-horsepower 6.6L V8. This engine also makes 464 lb-ft of torque that is good enough to tow 17,400 pounds.
While this is great, for those who want more, the diesel-powered 6.6L V8 can do better. With this, your power goes to 445 horsepower and 910 lb-ft of torque. This will allow you to tow up to 220,000 pounds.
When 2021 came around, it came with some new tech. This was the jack-knife alert, and a trailer-length indicator. If you're someone who wants to tow with the fifth wheel, then the cargo-bed view enhancement makes it a bit easier.
For the 2022 models, there weren't any huge changes to the models. The only thing that you can find is that the Customer gained access to the power-adjustable seat. The six-function Multi-Flex tailgate is now optional on all trim levels, making it something to look out for if you want a truck that works for you.
While 2023 was quiet, it came out swinging for 2024. This year saw a complete overhaul of the vehicle. For these changes, you'll find that it comes with a new grille, bumper, and headlights, making it look like a new vehicle. This also brought some new colors to the lineup, helping keep things fresh.
For the lower-end trims, this year also brought the larger 13.2-inch touchscreen display to the lineup. These trims also gained a reworked console that now features a wireless charging pad. When on the way back from a long day at the worksite, this will help keep your phone at full juice, without needing to remember wires when leaving the house.
This year also saw tweaks to certain features, such as the adaptive cruise control. On particularly long drives, you'll want to use this as it helps keep you loose, but in years before, this feature wasn't the best if you were towing.
Now with the rework, the system will take into account the drag of the trailer and adjust accordingly, making it so that you can use it to the fullest.
While 2025 models will be a bit harder to find as of now, it does come with a major new feature. For those drivers who want something fun but don't want the "all-out off-road assault of the Silverado 2500HD ZR2," as said by Car and Driver. This is the Trail Boss package, and it builds on the LT and LTX trims. This adds things like off-road suspension, unique 20-inch wheels, and some trim-specific cosmetic features.
