While this vehicle existed in other markets before it hit the US, that gave the model time for a "test drive". When 2021 came around, the K5 entered the North American market, and it came with some great features.
When it was introduced, it featured two engines, these being the 1.6L turbocharged I4 and the 2.5L I4. Of these two engines, the one that gets the best mileage is the 1.6L, able to get 32 MPG combined. But if you want some fun, then the 2.5L is the way to go. This is because it gets 290 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque.
This model came in a few trims, with these being the LX, LXS, GT-Line, EX, and GT. Of these trims, the one that catches the experts' attention is the GT-Line. This is because it comes with a sportier body kit and 18-inch wheels, a 10-way power-adjustable driver's seat, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and charging ports for back-seat passengers. They also note that models that are equipped with AWD come with "adaptive cruise control, full LED headlights, a heated steering wheel, panoramic sunroof, and wireless charging."
If you're not interested in that, then you can still look for both an 8-inch and a 10.25-inch screen. The smaller of the two comes with wireless phone connectivity, while the larger one doesn't have that.
Starting in 2022, the EX and GT both get a new 360-degree camera system, power-folding exterior mirrors, and front parking sensors. This helps make operating the vehicle safer than before, giving you extra confidence. This is why in the same year, the IIHS gave the model its Top Safety Pick+.
The next set of changes came in 2023, and it saw the discontinuation of the LX. Thanks to this, the LXS is no longer able to be found with the AWD drivetrain. This year also saw the inclusion of acoustic front door glass that combats road noise for the EX and GT-Line trims.
If you want a bit more, you can look for GT-Line trims that are equipped with AWD. This is because it will come with a standard heated steering wheel. While this isn't a huge change, it is a nice creature comfort to be added.
While 2024 didn't change the model much, the GT-Line did see some changes. This saw the addition of the heated front seats as standard equipment, helping make you even more comfortable.
Being that we're getting closer to the current year models, the 2025 model will be a bit harder to find. But thankfully, this year didn't see much change, with the only difference being that the smaller engine was dropped. This engine is the 2.5L I4, and it comes with an EPA-rated 30 MPG combined.
