When the Ariya debuted in 2020, it was meant to hit the roads soon after, but due to some supply issues, it was a bit delayed. But thanks to the delay, Nissan was able to make sure that the debut models were as good as they could be. When the model did hit the roads, it came with 7 trims.
There are so many options to pick from on trim levels and they also come in both FWD and AWD (also known as e-4ORCE) variants. To make this vehicle exactly how you like it, they also offered both 63 kWh or 87 kWh battery size. The base Engage trim is the only one that can come with the 63 kWh battery, while the VENTURE+, EVOLVE+, ENGAGE+, EMPOWER+ PREMIER, and PLATINUM+ come with the larger battery.
No matter what trim you find yourself looking at, you can enjoy some great standard features across the line. Some of these are Nissan's Safety Shield 360 system which comes with ProPilot driver assist system. If you want the best version of ProPilot, then you’ll want a higher-end trim. This is because ProPilot 2.0 comes with hands-free driving.
You can also find a pair of 12.3-inch screens, one in the dash, and the other for the infotainment system. This system comes with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and in-dash navigation. Wireless charging, and heads-up displays are an available feature, giving you something to hunt for.
At most, the model will be able to get 304 miles on one charge as per the EPA. This can be achieved with the 87 kWh battery, while the smaller 63 kWh battery can only go 216 miles on one charge.
When out, and about, you can charge your vehicle from 10-90% in just 42 minutes, as tested by Car and Driver at a DC fast charger. This makes it so that when you’re out at the store, or a restaurant, by the time you finish, you’ll be ready to go 300+ miles.
When this model debuted, it also came with an IIHS Top Safety Pick+, but it lost the “+” in 2024. No matter what though, this model is one of the safest on the road thanks to automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control with a hands-free driving mode to name a few safety features.
