With the Toyota Crown being reintroduced, you might be interested in used models. We’ll be taking a look at some of the most recent models, and trims to help you get the one you want. Here are some used Toyota Crown buying tips.
Key takeaways
- The Crown offers two hybrid engine options, with one of them getting 41 MPG combined, making it the perfect vehicle for bust city driving.
- Thanks to its build, and materials, the cab is quiet. Making it more appealing than other models that don't have the same features.
- In more recent models, the Crown comes with some comfort features for the driver, and front passenger, and if you get the higher end trims, you even have a heads-up display.
Sixteenth Generation (2023-Present)
When looking at the most recent generation of Toyota Crown, it’s hard to believe that it has been 50 years since the last one hit North American roads.
Despite being around in other markets since 1955, Toyota decided to discontinue the Crown in 1972 for North America. This time, Toyota took a more premium approach to the vehicle.
The Crown is offered in XLE, Limited, and Platinum trims for 2023 models. A new trim joined the lineup for the 2025 models, and this is the Nightshade edition. This adds blacked out elements to make your car look more aggressive.
No matter the trim level you decide, Toyota gives all models the same love, and attention. To help give the vehicle a better ride, they used acoustic glass, and sound dampening. This helps keep the road noise out, giving you, and your passengers a quiet ride.
There’s two engines to be aware of, both being hybrid options. The first one being a 2.5L producing 231 horsepower, and has an EPA rating of 41 MPG combined. The second engine being a 2.4L produces even more horsepower at 345 horsepower, but has a worse EPA rating at 30 MPG combined.
The stronger engine comes standard on the Platinum trim, but if you’re not worried about power, we recommend looking for a model that is equipped with the 2.5L as this will be a more than reliable daily driver.
When 2024 came around, the model saw some change, but nothing major. The main tweaks were to the interior materials. This helped give the vehicle a more refined finish. The Limited trim did gain access to some higher-end features that were reserved for the Platinum via packages.
Some of these features were adaptive cruise control, lane-change assist, and a front cross-traffic alert system. While they’re not all safety features, they do help ensure the overall safety of you, and your passengers. The adaptive cruise control will come in handy for those who do a lot of highway driving. Making it easier for you to follow the vehicle in front of you at a set distance.
Some more features were added for the 2025 model, and while they might be rare to come across, if you do, you’ll find some great features.
These features are heated, and ventilated seats now being standard, as well as a heated steering wheel. The Platinum model also gains a heads-up display, helping you keep your eyes on the road.
