Being the most recent generation, and one that went on for nearly a decade, this will be the easiest one to find, and depending on the year, it will come loaded with features. Hitting the roads in 2016, this model featured three gas engines for the US market, being the two 2.0L I4 options. One makes 190 horsepower, while the turbocharged one makes 252 horsepower. These can be paired with either a 6-speed manual, or 7-speed automatic transmission.
Of these two engines, if you're wanting the most efficient one, then you'll want the weaker of the two engines. This is because it gets 31 MPG combined, as per the EPA. But that being said, the stronger of the engines gets 28 MPG combined, making this a solid option as well.
One gorgeous feature you can find are wood accents, giving a nice look for the interior, making it stand out from the rest on the market. While the standard screen for most of the lineup was a 7-inch screen, if you're lucky, you may find a model that comes with an 8.3-inch screen.
The A4 comes with some pretty nice features, consisting of phone connectivity via Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. But if you're wanting a bit more, then you can find models that may come with Navigation, SiriusXM satellite radio, and in-car Wi-Fi.
When this vehicle first hit the roads, it had undergone rigorous testing by the IIHS, and they gave it their Top Safety Pick+ rating. This is thanks to all of the "Good" ratings in all areas that were tested. Some other features that helped boost that rating were blind spot detection, lane departure warning, lane departure prevention, and rear automatic braking.
Over the next few years, the model didn't really see much change, but that was until 2020. This year Audi decided it was time for a refresh, and to help make the model stand out, they added an updated exterior styling. This includes new front and rear bumpers, tweaks to the grille and lighting elements, and new wheel designs. While on earlier models, they made you look for a bigger screen, these are now equipped with a 10.1-inch screen. This dwarfs those pre refresh, making it the used car to look for if you value some of the best tech there is.
Some new standard tech was added, with these being a power sunroof, a three-spoke steering wheel with shift paddles, heated front seats with power-adjustments for the driver, three-zone automatic climate control, and ambient interior lighting. This gives the A4 a bit more creature comfort, helping you remain the coolest (or warmest) vehicle around.
