Second Generation (2026-Present)
With this generation being one of the newest vehicles on the market at the time this article was written. If you’re reading this a bit later, you may be more likely to find one, so we’ll cover the basics.
This generation comes in both 7, and 8-seating configurations, making this accessible for larger families. While this generation does come in a handful of trims, this one brings a new one called the “XRT Pro”. This trim comes with improved off-road capability, coming with a 8.4 inches of ground clearance,
For now, this generation can also be found with two engines, the fully gas powertrain is powered by a 3.5L V6 that makes 287 horsepower, and 260 lb-ft of torque. Thanks to this, you can tow up to 5,000-pounds. According to Car and Driver, the EPA has rated this engine as getting 21 MPG combined, but the EPA hasn’t updated their database to reflect that.
The other engine is the hybrid option and is powered by a 2.5L I4, able to make 329 horsepower, and 339 lb-ft of torque. While the EPA hasn’t tested this version as of yet, Hyundai claims that it can get more than 30 MPG on the highway. As time goes on, the numbers will be officially updated, and we’ll be the first to tell you.
First Generation (2020-2025)
When this generation hit the roads, it came in the SE, SEL, and Limited trims. No matter which trim you decide to go with, it will come powered by a 3.8L V6. This engine gets an EPA rated 22 MPG combined, making it more efficient than the standard engine on the recent generation. This generation also comes with both 7, and 8-passenger seating.
Of these initial trims, the one that comes with the most comfort is the Limited. This trim features Nappa leather seating surfaces, a faux-suede headliner, heated and ventilated first and second rows. If comfort is important to you for your family, this is the one that you want.
For 2021, Hyundai added a new trim to the line. This new trim is called the Calligraphy, and while the Limited was already luxurious the Calligraphy takes it up a notch. This trim features unique exterior lighting elements, boldly-designed 20-inch wheels, a distinct grille finish, and standard all-wheel drive.
2022 didn’t see a new trim, but it did come with some upgraded safety features. Some of these new features are rear cross-traffic collision avoidance and blind-spot collision avoidance, automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control.
Much like a model from a few years prior, the 2023 model comes with new trim. While the luxury additions are taken care of, this time brought some rugged features to the lineup. This new trim is the XRT, and it comes with 20-inch wheels, blacked-out exterior trim, as well as some other bits and bobs to round out the look.
Another new year model means another new trim, and for 2024’s model is the Calligraphy Night Edition. This takes the base Calligraphy model, and blacks it out. Some of the blacked out features are unique black wheels, black roof rails, and a black leather interior. This year also saw the SE gain dual-zone front and single-zone rear automatic climate control now come standard.
