This is the most recent generation so you'll find some of the best gear that is on the market. While it made its debut in other markets in 2015, it didn't come to North America until 2017. When it did come here, it received some pretty high praise from Car and Driver. They gave it their 10 best of the year, and made it Editor's choice. This is thanks to its "carlike handling" as well as the "zesty supercharged V-6", making it a "fun-to-drive character".
Some of the features on the Q7 are a heads up display, power door closers, and a 7-, or 8-inch touchscreen, depending on the trim. For those who want the best comfort, this generation also comes with enough room in the first two rows for most people, while the third row is still comfortable, albeit, better suited for smaller passengers.
If you're someone who enjoys music, Audi decided to make this a rolling studio, thanks to the inclusion of multiple stereo setups, including a Bang & Olufsen system with 23 speakers and 1920 watts. This is perfect for the summer playlists, or soccer moms who need a minute to let their hair down when the kids are at practice.
One area where this model shines are the engine options. The Q7 offers a 2.0L I4 and the 3.0L V6. If you're wanting the most power, the V6 is the way to go as it makes 333 horsepower, and 325 lb-ft of torque. If you're not wanting the most power, and want the most mileage, then the I4 comes out on top, but only slightly. This comes with an EPA rated 22 MPG combined, while the V6 comes with an EPA rated 21 MPG combined.
Starting in 2020, this model saw a facelift. Coming with new tech, new looks, and a new engine. This new engine is a 3.0L V6, but it comes with a 48-volt hybrid system, making slightly more horsepower at 335. While this is slightly more powerful, it does lose some mileage. This engine comes with an EPA rated 18 MPG combined. While not as much as the previous iterations, you will gain some new gear.
While not tested in 2020, this facelift comes with the same safety rating from the year prior. In 2019, the NHTSA gave the model a 5-star rating. This is thanks to the model receiving 4, and 5 star ratings across the board, making it the one for those who need something safe.
As for tech, the Q7 boasts a larger 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen. This is the biggest that you'll find on the model, even up until today. Over the next few years, the model saw smaller changes, with the model really only seeing cosmetic changes for the next few years.
