Genesis launched the G70 just two years after introducing the brand. At launch, buyers could choose between two engines. Most four-cylinder models came with a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine generating 252 ponies and paired with an eight-speed automatic. Cars equipped with the optional six-speed manual received a slight bump to 255 horsepower.
Those looking for stronger performance could step up to the twin-turbocharged 3.3-liter V6, which generated 365 horsepower and 376 pound-feet. Rear-wheel drive was standard, while all-wheel drive was available on most automatic-equipped models. (Manual-transmission cars were offered exclusively with rear-wheel drive.)
Genesis packed even the entry-level G70 with premium gear. The 2.0T Advanced included 18-inch alloy wheels, push-button start, power-adjustable front seats, faux leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control, an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a 7-inch digital display within the instrument cluster. Safety was equally impressive, with automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high beams all included.
The 2.0T Elite introduced LED headlights, front and rear parking sensors, genuine leather seats, heated and ventilated front seats, a Lexicon 15-speaker audio system, and a sunroof. Higher trims added Nappa leather upholstery, upgraded power-adjustable seats, heated rear seats, a head-up display, wireless phone charging, and a surround-view camera.
The 2.0T Dynamic added a limited-slip rear differential on rear-wheel-drive models along with 19-inch wheels wrapped in performance summer tires. The 2.0T Sport built on that package with quilted Nappa leather, distinctive exterior trim, copper-colored headlight accents, dark chrome grille details, and smoked taillights. Manual-equipped Sport models also gained upgraded Brembo brakes, a revised limited-slip differential, and a sport exhaust.
Genesis also offered separate trim levels for the more powerful 3.3T. These mirrored much of the four-cylinder equipment but paired it with the V6 engine. The range-topping 3.3T Sport added an electronically controlled suspension along with the unique exterior styling found on the 2.0T Sport.
