In 2019, the world first heard about Ford’s new compact pickup truck, and in 2020, the first images hit the internet. This gave driver’s the first look at the Maverick. While it does share the name as a compact car from the 70’s this was not by design.
This time the Maverick came with more utility. This is thanks to the 4.5-foot bed. If you’re wondering what some used Ford Maverick towing capacity and specs are, there’s a few of them.
Most models will come with a 2,000-pound towing capacity, but when properly equipped, you can get up to 4,000-pounds. The Maverick also comes with two engine options.
The engines that you can find are a hybrid engine that comes standard. This is a 2.5L iVCT I4 engine that is paired to an electric motor. When they work together, they produce 191 horsepower.
This engine has an EPA rating of 37 MPG combined, really shining in the city at 42 MPG. Highlighting the strength of hybrids. The max range for models equipped with this engine is 511 miles.
The optional engine is a 2.0L EcoBoost I4. This produces 250 horsepower, and 277 lb-ft of torque. If you’re wanting the highest towing capacity, then this engine is needed.
While it doesn't get as good mileage, coming with an EPA rating of 26 MPG, it does decent on the highway at 30 MPG. If you find a model that is equipped with this engine, you can go up to 429 miles.
Models from 2022-2024 come with front wheel drive as standard, with all wheel drive being optional. The Maverick comes with 3 trim levels to pick from. These trim levels being the XL, XLT, and the Lariat.
While the XL is the base trim, it does come with some decent features thanks to the universal standard equipment. You can find a rear-view camera, remote keyless entry, and smartphone integration.
The XLT comes with a bit more. This comes with cruise control (later added to the XL in 2023), power mirrors, and remote start.
The Lariat comes with the best features. Coming with faux leather-trimmed seats, as well as a leather wrapped steering wheel, heated front bucket seats, push button start, and even a powered sliding rear window.
If you manage to find yourself looking at a used 2025 model, there's a few things you should know about. This interior now sees a new 13.2-inch touchscreen, with wireless phone connectivity. While in the years before, to hit the 4,000-pound towing capacity, you needed the gas engine, but now that can be achieved on the hybrid engine.
A new trim also joined the lineup, this being the Lobo. This is a performance oriented trim, and it comes with sport-tuned features, and upgraded braking.
While the 2.0L EcoBoost has the same build, the newer version actually loses power, now generating 238 horsepower. Down from the 250 from before.
